The wholesale meat trade on the Osh Bazaar does not meet hygienic standards and this is even admitted by specialists and workers on the market. Average buyers do not have the opportunity to see with their own eyes the conditions under which the delivery, processing and distribution is done because the wholesale market starts work from 3:00 am.  The retail trade wherein most customers buy their products differs significantly from the wholesale trade. Another building in the southern capital built by the state directorate for the reconstruction of Osh and Jalal-Abad begins to dilapidate. Inhabitants of the multi apartment house which was constructed for blind and deaf people and was only recently given up for rent have complained about the destruction of walls and the poor work done on the sewerage. Residents around the Djeti-Oguz resort are outraged that the management of medical department has taken the pump for themselves which was originally intended for the residents. But the director of the resort claims otherwise. In the meantime, the water pump does not even work and as a result it cannot provide any drinking water for the residents of these villages. The 31-year-old citizen of the town Kyzyl Kiya Azamat Kojomberdiyev together with other people was accused of stealing a “Zhinlippi” and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In the first instance, he was acquitted by the town court of Kyzyl Kiya but in the following instances, the courts did not take into account the testimonies of the victim party and the witnesses that described him not being involved in the crime. Every year, because of the carelessness of husbands dozens of healthy young women are infected with HIV, which is then transferred to their children. According to statistics, 70% of carriers of HIV are men, who do not warn their brides about the virus prior to the wedding. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon emphasized the key role of healthy and strong families in developing the country, and urged young couples to undergo a medical examination before marriage. However, HIV testing has a fee, public awareness is low, and sometimes people contract the virus in health facilities. (more…)

According to a survey, 72 percent of Tajik women have contemplated suicide, and 24 percent of them have attempted suicide after finding out about having contracted human immunodeficiency virus. In our society, people are increasingly witnessing the horrific stories about friends, colleagues and even strangers who are victims of a terrible disease that is HIV. The mortality rate among HIV-positive people is increasing due to late detection of secondary diagnoses. In addition, the blame is often put on the doctors, who had then denied people with HIV status not only first aid, but also hospitalization, examination, and so forth.
